My good friend asked me in July 2012 to photograph his latest creation which are his glass shoes by Simon Vermeulen.
Simon Vermeulen is a dancer, artist and a visionary and these Glass Shoes by Simon Vermeulen are his expression.
Once I met with him in private and he showed me the exclusive and highly secretive images of his Glass Shoes, I could not resist.
This installation is apart of a major independent film named Der Untermensch which is “This short contemporary dance-film depicts the treatment of homosexuals during World War II, by drawing a parallel between concentration camps and how physically constrained one can feel when self–expression is repressed.“ (link to the full description and a preview below)
Referencing Vermeulen’s website, he describes the pieces to be “Made out of crystal clear resin layered around a silicone mold of Simon Vermeulen’s demi-pointed foot, these two shoes are each separated in equal halves closing onto each other.“ Click below to view and read more.
